We chose Revablend in the #1 spot because it’s the only product out there that mixes but also blends with real stainless steel blades. This non-electric, as they state on their website, uses a wheel at the bottom that you roll across a table or by hand to mix.

Over the past several years many companies have introduced alternatives to the traditional shaker bottle with the metal spring that we have had for years. These blender bottle alternatives have changed sizes, colors, added batteries, USB chargers and even one that claims to blend at high rpms without power. The protein Shake market is a booming business.

“The protein market continues to be a strong growth opportunity for the food industry. Projections suggest that the worldwide market for sports nutrition is set to grow to 45.27 billion U.S. dollars, increasing massively from the 2016 figure of 28.37 billion U.S. dollars. However, gym junkies are not the only ones fueling this growth. Protein has a variety of applications including supplementing the diets of vegetarians. This is a growing market if the larger share of young people identifying themselves as vegetarians is anything to go by.

So, let’s take a look at the top contenders in the protein shake market:

SmartShake

blender bottle alternatives
The SmartShake bottle is another popular shaker bottle option that a lot of people tend to love. Similar to the BlenderBottle ProStak, the SmartShake is another blender bottle alternative featuring a stackable design with a 20-ounce cup and a detachable container that locks into the bottom. This container features three compartments compared to the ProStak’s two, and comes in a huge variety of color combinations (22 to be exact). The most noticeable difference between this bottle the BB ProStak is that the Smart cup uses a honeycomb plastic strainer as opposed to the wire whisk ball, assumingly because BlenderBottle has the whisk balls under patent protection.

Pros:

  • Full wrap designs on plastic sheets are interchangeable
  • No rattling sound or loose parts that easily get lost
  • Clear PP, BPA & DEHP Free

Cons:

  • Screen doesn't properly mix your powder
  • Difficult to clean always leaving residue in top
  • Not 20oz as advertised. Bottle itself was maxed at 400ml.

Cyclone Cup

shaker bottle alternative

The Cyclone Cup Shaker has a pretty interesting way of mixing. I’m actually reluctant to call it a ‘shaker’ at all, considering you don’t do any physical shaking of the bottle.

It does have a couple of pros. The powder compartment at the bottom is watertight and extremely secure. I kept protein powder in there, and it stayed dry throughout multiple hand washings in the sink. It's certainly better than stirring in a glass and one blender bottle alternatives on the market. Frankly if I had bought the cyclone cup first, it would have seemed like a great improvement on just stirring shakes or dealing with a blender every time. But with the blender bottle in existence, I just don't see the point unless I need to travel and can't take an extra container for powder.

Pros:

  • Cycle mixing technology
  • 20 ounce capacity
  • BPA-free material

Cons:

  • A few clumps may remain after mixing
  • Lid can leak if not screwed on very tightly
  • Several users note that capacity is closer to 16 ounces

The Cyclone Cup uses a patented infusion system that basically takes your powders and slowly disperses them into your liquid. They use a lot of big-worded-sentences to explain why their system is so superior, but I won’t bore you with the details. All you need to know is that they’re essentially claiming that wire whisk balls “aren’t efficient” and that infusion mixing is the only way to get a truly smooth shake consistency.
Whatever their reasons, the Cyclone Cup is pretty cool and people are happy with it, so I added it to the list. I personally think they’re over-complicating the heck out of making a protein shake, but I suppose if it works, it works.
